To complete this assessment, you must plan and write two literature reviews on topics related to health and human services. You must complete the three tasks for both topics:

Task 1: Plan and gather information on each topic

Task 2: Analyse and present findings on each topic.

Task 3: Provide a reference list of information sources, using the APA Referencing style.

(Students should use the following link: A guide to TAFE NSW referencing: APA 7 style)

Research activities for this task may be completed in class, but the written components will be completed independently outside of class time and will not be observed by the assessor.

For each of the two topics students should allow a minimum of:

·         1 hour to complete Task 1

·         2 hours to complete Task 2

Part 1: Research-based – Literature reviews

To complete this assessment students must select two of the following topics that are relevant to their professional context and work practices:

  • health informatics
  • social determinants of health
  • patient/person-centred care

For each topic students must then:

  1. Gather at least three credible sources of information on the topic and explain how they did this by completing Task 1.
  2. Analyse the information gathered and present their findings by completing Task 2.
  3. Provide a reference list of the resources used, in the APA referencing style.

Subheadings and sections have been provided to help keep the reviews on track.

Patient/person-centred care

Topic 1

Task 1: Plan and gather information

Address each of the following criteria for the first topic. Each answer should be approximately 100 words. Ensure at least one of the information sources should be one you have found and is in addition to the list provided.

  1. Introduce the topic you have chosen and identify how researching the literature in this area may support and improve your work practices.
According to Australian health Act 2016, Social Determinants of health refers to the type of factors that are related to non-medical aspect. They influence the outcomes that are related to health. There are many systems that formats the conditions related to social policies, social norms, economic system, etc (Braveman & Gottlieb, 2014).

  1. Provide a clear statement defining the research objectives of your literature review.
We conducted research to identify the way how people deal with such conditions.

We have to select a topic which will help us to determine or identify the conditions related to living standards of people (Braveman & Gottlieb, 2014).

  1. Describe the methods you used to systematically gather information for your literature review and provide a rationale for why these were appropriate.
Methos that can be used are:

1) Define Question for research

2) After this you will have to determine the exclusion and inclusion criteria’s

In this we collect information about relevant methods, geographies, views, etc.

3) Then we select a database to conduct search

In this we search information from the literature that is published using database.

We can conduct cited referencing searching (Viner, et al., 2012).

4) After this we will have to review the results

5) Information that is gathered should be synthesized

6) We have to analyse the information that is gathered

In this step we identify the gaps in the information, we analyse whether there is any consensus topic, which approach will be the best, etc.

7) And at the end we have to write literature review.

Rationale – These steps are best for collecting data on the literature review because with its help the researcher can get accurate and quick information that is relevant to the topic identified (Viner, et al., 2012).

  1. Describe at least three credible sources of data and information you accessed for your literature review- of which is one is a resource you have found.
1) Internet – It is a place where you can browse information on any topic on which you want to gather information on.

2) Evidence and Empirical based articles – These are the reports that are based on the observation on experiments, they include statistical analysis of data, charts, graphs, etc.

3) Reviewed Journals – These are the articles that are written by the experts and reviewed by other experts that belong to the same field (Magnan, 2017).

  1. Explain how you determined whether the information you gathered was relevant to your chosen topic and research objectives.
To check the whether the information gathered is relevant then we have to validate it through various reliable sources (Magnan, 2017).

There should be some charts, illustrations, graphs that support supports the presented information. It became more reliable when it is cited by an author, so that it can be reviewed by the reader for himself or herself.

  1. Describe how you organised the data and information you gathered in a way that helped you to use it in your literature review.
To maintain and organise data we need to gather information and record it in the format of table that can be maintained with the help of digital source and computer.

Like this we can identify information that can be included in literature review. We can also identify information related to health determinants (Adler, et al., 2016).

  1. Describe how you prioritised which sources of data and information to discuss in your literature review.
To prioritise the data, we can discuss it with our team of experts.

We can extract information from Reviewed journals as they are considered as relevant sources (Adler, et al., 2016).

We can consider the data that has some proof of authenticity.

Task 2: Analyse and present findings

Use the following headings to write a literature review that analyses three or more credible sources of information, and assesses how the findings might be applied in your professional context. Each answer should be approximately 100 words. In your literature review you must address each of the criteria.

  1. Identify at least two current trends in this topic area and evaluate their relevance to your area of professional practice.
1) Chronic Conditions – It is right now in trend and also related to health determinants. It motivates the people of this department to use software and collaborate with its developer so that they can protect and aware people about spreading information related to the disease (Preda & Voigt, 2015).

They provide instructions related to how the proper diet is important.

2) Digital health vendors – there is a SDOH Software with whose help the people of health care department attend the people. With its help they try to connect the patient with people serving in medical. They collaborate with these people who serve in medical care and provide patient with the medicine at very affordable prices, and with this other relevant information and measures that the patient needs to take care of (Preda & Voigt, 2015).

  1. Compare and contrast the different sources of literature that you have accessed and comment on their merits in terms of their:
    1. strength (the robustness of the studies)
    2. relevance to your professional context
  • (statistical) reliability
  1. currency of the information.
1) Strength – With the help of identified software that is SDOH patient and people can measure and compare the disease indicators and data related to local health.

It helps the patient to identify the area that need some improvement so that they can work on them.

2) Relevance – Sources that are used termed to be as relevant when they provide accurate information on the requested topic.

This software determines he social as well as practical aspect related to health determination that is the reason why is relevant to the professional context.

3) Reliability – The identified sources are said to be reliable when they provide accurate information related to the sufferings of people. Because sometimes the data do not provide information that matches the suffering of chronic disease so, at that point can’t be termed as reliable.

4) Timeliness – it states that how quickly the patient that is suffering receives information, so that it can help him to deal with the chronic disease. The information should be far enough in advance so the patient and people get proper time to review it.

  1. Assess and discuss the feasibility of incorporating the findings of the research into your professional context, and any benefits or risk associated with this.
Legal Feasibility – They provide relevant information that is related to the legal obligations. That should be provided by the health care departments (National Academies of Sciences, 2016).

Technical Feasibility – They provide relevant information that is related to technology.

That should be provided by health care centres. These services should be provided to patients who all are suffering from any disease.

  1. Identify areas of the research that warrant further investigation, either because of the limited scope of the research you have undertaken, or the limitations of the studies cited.
Area of research that need further investigation is health related issues in Elderly people.

This research should be conducted to identify the reason for health-related issues in Elderly people.

And rather than this we also need to research on the causes that led to spread of such diseases.

  1. Provide a summary of your findings and conclusions based on the literature that you have reviewed.
According to the findings we need to identify some reliable health care vendors that serve patient by following the laws and regulation made by the government (National Academies of Sciences, 2016).

We need to identify the reason for increasing health related issues in the elderly people and what can be done to improve it.

There is a need to spread more awareness and educate people so that they can protect themselves from such diseases.

  1. Outline ways in which the information may be used, and recommend two actions based on your research findings and conclusions. These may be in relation to further research, or implementing the findings of the research, or both.
Information that is provided can be used by the local people so that by learning new methods they could use to improve their health and protect themselves from such illness.

People and local vendors can get the information related to new technology that can be used to serve the patient while maintain a safety environment. And through this information people also get to understand their rights and should be fulfilled by the health care departments.

Actions:

1) There is a need to educate people and provide them information related to the health benefits that should be offered by the health care departments.

2) There is a need to research on the spread of disease in elderly people and how can this be reduced.

  1. Outline how you will use the information and learnings from your research to make changes in your current work practices
This information can be used in such a way:

1) We can implement these changes in the practices that are followed at the present time.

2) I will interrelate the factors and will try to reach a much better conclusion that will help to give more relevant and appropriate information.

3) We can personally provide information related to the laws and regulations that depict the right of people and duties of the health care department.

Task 3: Referencing

Include a reference list using the APA style of referencing.

Topic 2

Task 1: Plan and gather information

Address each of the following criteria for the first topic. Each answer should be approximately 100 words. Ensure at least one of the information sources should be one you have found and is in addition to the list provided.

  1. Introduce the topic you have chosen and identify how researching the literature in this area may support and improve your work practices.
Patient centred care refers to the facilities that should be provided to the by focusing and determining the needs of the patients.

According to its moral support should be given to the patient and his values should be respected. In this there is a need to provide such an environment to the patient in which he/she can feel comfortable.

In this research we will identify the needs of the patient that should be looked after.

In this research we will identify the literary sources that can be used to fulfill the needs of the patients (Santana, et al., 2018).

  1. Provide a clear statement defining the research objectives of your literature review.
Objective of our research is to manipulate the traditional thinking of the health care staff so that they start treating there patients professionally and build a good relation with them.

In this research we will identify the needs of providing emotional support to the patient and sources that can help the health care staff in assessing these moral goals (Santana, et al., 2018).

  1. Describe the methods you used to systematically gather information for your literature review and provide a rationale for why these were appropriate.
Identified Methods:

1) Define Question for research

2) After this you will have to determine the exclusion and inclusion criteria’s

In this we collect information about relevant methods, geographies, views, etc.

3) Then we select a database to conduct search

3) Reviewed Journals – These are the articles that are written by the experts and reviewed by other experts that belong to the same field.

4) Data collected after surveying the needs of patients that is collected by meeting them personally.

  1. Explain how you determined whether the information you gathered was relevant to your chosen topic and research objectives.
To check the whether the information gathered is relevant then we have to validate it through various reliable sources (Riste, et al., 2018).

There should be some charts, illustrations, graphs that support supports the presented information. It became more reliable when it is cited by an author, so that it can be reviewed by the reader for himself or herself.

  1. Describe how you organised the data and information you gathered in a way that helped you to use it in your literature review.
Data has to be organized according to the dates of its publishing.

It should be according to the priorities related to the patients.

To maintain and organise data we need to gather information and record it in the format of table that can be maintained with the help of digital source and computer.

  1. Describe how you prioritised which sources of data and information to discuss in your literature review.
To prioritise the data, we can discuss it with our team of experts.

We can consider the data that has some proof of authenticity

We can extract information from Reviewed journals as they are considered as relevant sources (Riste, et al., 2018).

h)     We have to prioritize it according needs and frequency related to its usage.

Identify strategies for the nursing staff to work on their communication so that they can fulfill the necessity of the patients properly by understanding them and conveying emotional support towards them (Price, 2022).

Rather than this we need to focus on the society-based care which helps in the social ways developed to make the patient feel comfortable. There is a need to practice this so that that the patients can also communicate about their problem clearly with the nurse staff or doctor.

  1. Compare and contrast the different sources of literature that you have accessed and comment on their merits in terms of their:
    1. strength (the robustness of the studies)
    2. relevance to your professional context
  • (statistical) reliability
  1. currency of the information.
1) Strength – With the help of administrative robust data and a coding system it will become easy to deal with the patient properly.

It will help the nursing staff to identify the area that need some improvement so that they can work on them.

2) Relevance – Sources that are used termed to be as relevant when they provide accurate information on the requested topic (Price, 2022).

This technology provides social as well as practical aspect related to the moral and behavioural aspect of the staff. That is the reason why is relevant to the professional context.

3) Reliability – The identified sources are said to be reliable when they provide accurate information related to the needs of people. Because sometimes the data do not provide information that matches the exact requirement of the patient.

4) Currency of information – It refers to the date on which information was published that indicates that how current the researching topic is.

These are identified by the date of publication, date of copyright.

  1. Assess and discuss the feasibility of incorporating the findings of the research into your professional context, and any benefits or risk associated with this.
Research should be ethical and proper.

It should incorporate the relevant findings that are genuine and real so that can be applied actually.

It will help to build good relationship with the patient.

But this process will consume more time and will increase the cost expenditure of the organization (Williams, 2015).

  1. Identify areas of the research that warrant further investigation, either because of the limited scope of the research you have undertaken, or the limitations of the studies cited.
Identified areas for research that can be used for further investigation are proper diet routine that should be given to the patient as per their need.

Cleanliness measures that could be taken regarding the hygiene of the patient.

These are the things that are needed to be further researched (Williams, 2015).

  1. Provide a summary of your findings and conclusions based on the literature that you have reviewed.
Findings in the literature work, identified measures and methods that can be used for further progressing in a positive way.

According to the old literature earlier the tradition patients were treated like customers but now with the incorporation of these methods we will introduce technology with whose help the nursing staff will take care of the moral and emotional aspects related to the patients.

And through this information people also get to understand their rights and should be fulfilled by the health care departments (Jesus, et al., 2016).

  1. Outline how you will use the information and learnings from your research to make changes in your current work practices
This information can be used in such a way:

1) We can implement these changes in the practices that are followed at the present time.

2) We can apply the factors and try to reach a satisfied conclusion in which the patients seek much more comfort (Jesus, et al., 2016).

3) We can personally monitor the implication and results of it and if the results would be good them, we will campaign it so that everybody can incorporate it into other organizations.

Task 3: Referencing

Include a reference list using the APA style of referencing.
