Assessment Task 2: Project

This assessment task requires you to work effectively to determine the most applicable information and communications technology (ICT) solution and facilitate its implementation.

In this assessment task, you will be required to read and understand the below-mentioned scenario and complete the following activities.

This assessment task requires you to work effectively as part of project-based teams for an information technology department. You are required to read and understand a predetermined issue and/or situation and participate in a number of assessment activities. You need to complete the following activities:

  • Activity 1: Define and assess proposed solutions
  • Activity 2: Assess organisational readiness and define transition requirements
  • Activity 3: Verify and validate solutions

This assessment task will be completed at your workplace, online or in a simulated workplace environment prepared by your training organisation.

The student is required to read and understand a predetermined issue and/or situation and participate in the following assessment activities.

The predetermined issue and/or situation

You have started working in the ICT department of your organisation.

You are having a number of issues with your current infrastructure and ICT environment, especially when one server fails and a number of people lose access to the applications installed on the server. Other problems are explained in the text below.

Your organisation is currently using virtual machines (VMs) to run software applications on top of the physical servers to emulate a particular hardware system. Hypervisor or a virtual machine monitor, can be a software, firmware or hardware that is used to create and run virtual machines. Each virtual machine has its own guest operating system. VMs of different operating systems can coexist on the same physical server—for example, a UNIX VM can coexist with a Linux VM. Each VM has its own binaries, libraries, and applications, and the VM can be several gigabytes in size. Each VM has its own operating system image, that contributes to the memory and storage footprint. As it turned out, this problem complicates every stage of the software development lifecycle, from development to testing to production and disaster recovery. This strategy also severely restricts device portability between public clouds, private clouds, and conventional data centres.

You and your team have been researching the solutions and identified that containers can be a perfect way to overcome the current challenges your organisation is facing.

Containers run on top of a physical server and its host operating system, such as Linux or Windows. Each container shares the host OS kernel as well as, in most cases, binaries and libraries. Components that are shared are read-only. Containers are therefore extremely “light”—they are just a few megabytes in size and start up in seconds, as opposed to gigabytes and minutes for a VM.

Containers also help to minimise management costs. Since they share the same operating system, only one operating system needs attention and feeding for bug fixes, updates, and so on. This definition is close to that of hypervisor hosts: fewer management points but a significantly larger fault domain. In short, containers are smaller and more compact than virtual machines.

Virtual machines and containers differ in many ways, but the primary distinction is that containers enable the virtualisation of an operating system, allowing multiple workloads to run on a single OS instance. The hardware is virtualized with VMs in order to run several OS instances. Containers, with their speed, agility, and portability, are yet another tool that can help streamline software development.

Container orchestration is the process of automating most of the organisational work needed to operate containerised workloads and services. This involves a wide range of tasks required by software teams to handle the lifecycle of a container, such as provisioning, deployment, scaling (up and down), networking, load balancing, and more.

Other requirements to complete this assessment task:

  • the internet, including connectivity
  • required hardware, software and applications
  • a simulated or workplace project in a medium-to-large enterprise
  • observation of the candidate carrying out business analysis work

  • a portfolio of the project work to be undertaken
  • vendor products relating to containerisation technology
  • container orchestration service
  • load testing application
  • text editor
  • user command interface (command prompt).

You will be required to demonstrate skills and knowledge to work effectively and efficiently to complete the required assessment tasks and activities in a team environment.

Template: Understanding your job role and responsibilities

Explain the purpose of forming the team (20-40 words)
It helps tp provide the framework which helps to increases the abitlity of the workers and encourage

them to join the planning and make a problem solving culture and also help employees in a decision

making process to provide the best service to their customers (Wang, et al., 2018).

What is your role and how is it different from others? (50-100 words)
My roles is different from other because I have to do the various practices about the company goals.

I have to work in an effective way for the project for an information technology in the department of

technology. I have to solve the various issues regarding the current ICT infrastructure. I have to

identify the best solutions and identify the best containers this is a only way to overcome with the

current organisation challenges (Khare, & Varma, 2017).

Team members and stakeholders (supervisor) you consulted and questions you asked relevant to the assessment criteria (50-100 words)
 I asked a question about

When we start the project?

How to correct the servers?

And who to distribute the best duties?

Are towe overcome with the problem as soon as possible?

What problem can arising during this?

And hoe to manage everything?

How did you comply with time frames and team requirements? (50-100 words)
For this we have to sets a goal which are so good and achievable.

By setting everything time and divide goals in a short form.

By motivate employees time to time (Davies, et al., 2015).

By asking for their need and ask for problems if any related to the work.

How have you planned and prioritised your own tasks? (50-100 words)

Part 2

In this part of the assessment, you are required to demonstrate to your trainer/assessor that you can meet the following requirements through your performance.

You will also be assessed on:

  • Assess potential solutions in light of business requirements.
  • Identify and evaluate solution options and additional capabilities to ensure they fulfil stakeholder needs.
  • Rank solution options based on their business value and the benefits and drawbacks of options.
  • Allocate specifications to solution components to maximise business value.
  • Allow for the assignment of requirements to a particular project release, phase, or iteration.

You must complete the following template to successfully demonstrate your knowledge and skills in this part of the assessment task:

How have you identified, established, determined and assessed the potential solutions in light of business requirements? Explain using 50-100 words.

  • After reading the case study
  • Directly speaking to the client
  • Change control processes to track changes to requirements and solution scope

The Business needs collaborative assessment of the superiors in the wake of current challenges. The Business needs of a client need to be identified for the potential solutions. Once that is done, then it needs to be established and determined. After that it needs to be assessed for the potential solutions (Palepu, et al., 2020).

How have you Identified and evaluated solution options and additional capabilities to ensure they fulfil stakeholder needs.?  (50-100 words)

The stakeholder’s needs are identified initially by observing the requirements and receiving their feedbacks. After that the solution needs to be evaluated keeping in mind the stakeholders requirements that have been identified before via various methods. Then the additional capabilities need to be fulfilled after evaluating solution option and requirements that are identified before (Palepu, et al., 2020).

How have you identified, gathered and communicated stakeholder expectations in accordance with organisational policies and guidelines?

(50-100 words)

The identification of the stakeholder’s expectations is the first thing that needs to be done in the policy of an organisation. It can be achieved by observing the requirements and receiving their feedbacks. The information that is gathered needs to be consolidated and stores carefully. This should be communicated to them as early as possible (Paul, et al., 2014).

How have you ranked solution options based on their business value and the benefits and drawbacks of options? Answer using 100-200 words.

The solutions can be ranked on the basis of business value and on the basis of drawbacks of the options. This solution that has the minimum number of drawbacks and have the maximum business value can be listed on the top, whereas the business with the most number of drawbacks and least value can be listed on bottom. The solutions can also be ranked as per the business benefits. The business with maximum number of benefits can be listed on the top, whereas the business with the least number of benefits can be listed at the bottom. The listing will be done (Paul, et al., 2014).

How have you allocated specifications to solution components to maximise business value? (100-200 words)

The business components may involve the business rules and policies. The specifications can be allocated with it. The solutions will surely increase the business value. The business rules can be determined to increase the business value and the business. Also the policies can be directed and implemented as for increasing the business value of the organisation. The solution components are thus for the maximisation of the business value. The allocated specifications are thus necessary for the maximising of the business value. The maximising of the business value is necessary in order to gr
and increase the profit in an organisation (Cadle, et al., 2014).

How have you allowed for the assignment of requirements to a particular project release, phase, or iteration? (100-200 words)

The assignments of the requirements of a particular release of a project or phase is allows in a multiple ways. There might be requirements for a certain type of assignments that is the base of the project. It might be necessary for the phase in which the project is into and must be iterated as per the allowed ways. This is the initial assignments that need to be addressed for the particular release of the project and the completion of the phases in that. The allowed requirements are hence necessary for the projects that are indicated to be analysed in phases and for the iteration (Cadle, et al., 2014).
