Assessment 1

1) According to the Muddy water which phrased that blues got soul, in this statement blues is a music band that was very popular in America. Blues was created by African and American musicians in early 1860in the south of the United States. It includes songs related to spirituals, chants, shouts, and work songs. Later blues has generated different forms of music like Rhythm blue, jazz, and rock and roll. The phrase Blue had a baby means, is another variation of music generated by blues name Rock and Roll (Ward, 2016).

In other phrases who is the father of rock and roll music. Rock and Roll music was invented in the early 1950s. It originated from the music rhythm and blues in the 1940s.

Chuck Berry (Charles Edward Anderson Berry) an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter were called the father of “Rock and Roll” music. He developed some changes in the music form of Rhythm and blues with some major elements. Some of the examples of Rock and roll music and songs are: in 1955 Maybellene, in 1956 Roll over Beethoven, in 1957 Rock and Roll music, in 1958Johnny B. Goode(Ward, 2016).

The instruments which have been used in Rhythm and blues music are Rhythm guitar, double bass, drums, and piano, similarly, it has been used later in the forms of Rock and Roll music like bass guitar, rhythm guitar, and drum. Rock and Roll is a kind of form which is generated from Rhythm and blues so we can say that Rhythm and blues is the father of Rock and Roll music. Rock and Roll music (Hamilton, 2016)

The term Rock was first used as a style of music by Harry James an American musician in a magazine which was released on21stJuly 1938. Later in 1940 the term Rock and Roll was used byAmerican journalist Maurie Orodenker in the American music magazine Billboard. In which he describes the vocals of Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s on a recording of the song Rock Me as Rock and Roll spiritual singing. In the band Lucky Millender’s. He was a band leader of Rhythm and blues. That’s why we said that the father of Rock and Roll was Rhythm and Blues (Hamilton, 2016)

The appearance of Rock and Roll music is from Rhythm and Blues Music. We can find it in an article in a newspaper name Wall Street Journal that was published in 1985 in which it describes that Rock music still belongs form Rhythm and Blues.

As is explained that the Blues (music form) is the mother of Rock And Roll music and the Rhythm and blues (music form). We can find the combination of both musicforms & stylists and instruments in Rock and Roll music. Style like: Jazz, blues, Instruments like Electric guitar, double bass, drum kits, electric organ, piano, saxophone, etc. Forms like: Rock and rolldisco beat music, hip hop, etc. (Campbell, 2004).

Some of thevariationshave been done in terms of style, instruments, and music forms. It is kind of updating and changing the music equipment, and music styles according to the needand demands of the time and people. In early 1950, it has come to the development of both musical forms Rhythm and blues and Blues. Rock and Roll music is also inspired by other music forms like traditional folk music, gospel, country, western music, etc. The instruments which have been used in Rhythm and blues music are Rhythm guitar, double bass, drums, and piano, similarly, it has been used later in the forms of Rock and Roll music like bass guitar, rhythm guitar, and drum

Alan Freed (Albert James) was an American DJ Player which played an important role in spreading and promoting Rock and Roll music through itstraveling concerts across all of North America. In 1950the Rock and roll songs evolved more sounds and music styles with heavy bass drums, background vocal groups, and some heavy metal and hard rock and brass instruments & elements like an amplifier, electric guitar, and microphone thatwere used to increase the sound quality & style of the music. Which has been very popular and admired by people later in the 20th century (Campbell, 2004).

Out of various artists in my opinion Chuck Berry (Charles Anderson berry) an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter best represent the style, sound, and image of Rock and Roll music in the 1950s. He is also famous as the name father of Rock and Roll. He updated the changes in form of Rhythm and blues music with some elements in terms of music style, forms, and instruments. The instruments which have been used in Rhythm and blues music are Rhythm guitar, double bass, drums, and piano, similarly, it has been used later in the forms of Rock and Roll music like bass guitar, rhythm guitar, and drum. Which has been liked and admired by many people all over America. Some of the famous songs related to Rock and Roll music are: Maybellene in 1955, Roll over Beethoven in 1956, Rock and Roll music in 1957, and Johnny b Goode in 1958. The journey of Rock and Roll music started in May 1955 in Chicago. When Chuck berry met with Muddy waters who suggested herecord the song in a different music style.
