Depression Issues in The Young Generation

Introduction

In today’s world, it can be visible that the young generation is the one who is facing some of the most mental issues problems. In comparison with the time earlier cases of mental issues are growing among the young generation at a rapid speed. This has motivated many researchers to find out the most common reasons which are causing depression risks in the young generation. And this complete report is based on finding the problem-causing element that leads to depression issues, and their available solutions so that they can be managed in a better way.

Some of the major points which are included in this report for understanding the concept more easily are as follows, the background of research, definition around the topic, literature review of depression issues in the young generation, literature review of theories of depression, research gap, conclusion and lastly the references. All of the information that has been provided in this report has been researched thoroughly and correctly, which helps in providing the required amount of knowledge and information on the topic of depression issues in the young generation.

Background

Being at an age that is suitable for the subject of research provides the necessary help and direction in doing the research. Depression is one of the most common problems in most young people at such young ages when the minds must be out of any kind of stress, this is having stress, that is more than manageable. The main cause of depression among the youth is because of the amount of stress they are getting from their surrounding many relevant things triggers it that includes, including toxic family, negative friend zone, the stress of overthinking, daily issues, study pressure, work pressure, etc., this all combines somewhere to push the young mind towards the stage of depression.

The research aims and statement has been provided below,

The issues which are causing the problem and triggering stress that led to depression have been identified. All the information about the problem and the solution has been presented in the form of a literature review of the published article from a wide variety of ranges.

Definition

It is a mental disorder and a very common one, but most people look at it as taboo. Looking the past data, it has been observed that the cases of depression have been raised which is a good and bad thing both, good as people are getting more aware of it as a disease and getting treatment, on the other hand, bad because it is not good to have such large number of people dealing with depression issue, especially in young generation or age.

There are many reasons for someone to get into a situation of stress but the solution is known to be very less and it is because of the lack of knowledge about the concept of depression. Depression is a disease similar to any other disease and must be treated correctly so that the person can live a healthy life.

Literature review of depression issues in the young generation

Tamura, H., Nishida, T., Tsuji, A. and Sakakibara, H., 2017. Association between excessive use of mobile phone and insomnia and depression among Japanese adolescents. International journal of environmental research and public health, 14(7), p.701.

It has been observed that the excessive use of the mobile phone among the young generation is causing the stress level to spike and indirectly results in getting depression. Depression is a disease which curable but identification of it is the main issue. Sometimes when a person is suffering from a problem but doesn’t aware of it. The use of mobile generates addiction in the young mind and somewhere it is found as a depression-causing agent. Addiction to anything is not good. Addiction is something when someone started to do things irrespective of their choice but for seeking the pleasure which is provided by the dopamine release (Tamura, et al., 2017).

Hoge, E., Bickham, D. and Cantor, J., 2017. Digital media, anxiety, and depression in children. Pediatrics, 140(Supplement_2), pp.S76-S80.

From the article, it has been found out that most of the time when a child won’t want or have anything on his phone to work on, but still scrolling for no reason in hoping that something interesting will come out. Anything addiction is not a good thing. Addiction occurs when a person begins to engage in behaviours against their will to experience the pleasure that the dopamine release provides. It is very dangerous as the amount of dopamine that is getting from being uncertain about the reward creates a hunger for more in the mind. Scrolling the mobile phone for ours with getting mad about it is one of these examples. It has been found from different studies that it causes worse than good, eyes and ears are getting damaged by the excessive use of digital equipment and last they get more amount of stress than earlier (Hoge, et al., 2017).

Roser, K., Schoeni, A., Foerster, M. and Röösli, M., 2016. Problematic mobile phone use of Swiss adolescents: is it linked with mental health or behaviour? International journal of public health, 61(3), pp.307-315.

The development of the skills that are lacking in problem-solving abilities when the internet world is seen and applied to the real-world results in the creation of brains. Additionally, the learning of these talents is created in such a way that it causes sadness in young people. There are further factors that add to the virtual reality of the internet, which produces more realistic representations of the real world and aids in identifying the real issues facing the younger generation. Addiction in any form is never a good thing. When someone starts acting against their better judgement to enjoy the pleasure that the dopamine release produces, this is known as addiction (Roser, et al., 2016).

Ebert, D.D., Zarski, A.C., Christensen, H., Stikkelbroek, Y., Cuijpers, P., Berking, M. and Riper, H., 2015. Internet and computer-based cognitive behavioural therapy for anxiety and depression in youth: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled outcome trials. PloS one, 10(3), p.e0119895.

Through this article, it can be confirmed that young age has a serious problem of depression due to the surrounding in which they are growing up and not only that but the very minimum support they are getting from their elders in a matter of it. Handling the issues by themselves creates an extra amount of burden on them which puts a negative impact on their overall development somewhere in this digital era, instruments that were made for making human life easy turned out to be the reason for causing issues. The theories for the mental health problems affecting the young generation are based on the creation of numerous factors, most of which are related to stress and other factors, which ultimately give the reasons that result in depression in the young generation and which hurt society and other aspects of an individual’s growth as well as for the country because youth is the future of the country (Ebert, et al., 2015).

Pine, R., Fleming, T., McCallum, S. and Sutcliffe, K., 2020. The effects of casual videogames on anxiety, depression, stress, and low mood: a systematic review. Games for health journal, 9(4), pp.255-264.

From this article it has been found out that the youth sometimes take the mobile phone and video games as a solution or a break from the hard work they are doing the whole day, for example, if a student is working on a project assigned from the should or college, it takes a break by playing video games. But it has been found out from different studies that it causes worse than good, eyes and ears are getting damaged by the excessive use of digital equipment and last, they get the more amount of stress than earlier. Something which is taken as a break or for correcting the mind by changing mood works as the stress-causing element. When a person starts acting against their better judgement to enjoy the pleasure that the dopamine release produces, addiction sets in. It is extremely risky because the dopamine that the mind receives from confusion about the reward makes it need more (Pine, et al., 2020).

Steele, R.G., Hall, J.A. and Christofferson, J.L., 2020. Conceptualizing digital stress in adolescents and young adults: Toward the development of an empirically based model. Clinical Child and Family Psychology Review, 23(1), pp.15-26.

From the article, it can be concluded, the article is on how digital interventions are being made that affect people’s mental health. This has an effect on children, youth, and adults, as well as on the internet and digitalization, which has caused the younger generation to become dependent on mobile phones and other technological devices, negatively impacting brain development and decreasing the need for making new experiences for this generation. Addiction is not a good thing. Addiction occurs when a person begins to engage in behaviour against their will to experience the pleasure that the dopamine release provides (Steele, et al., 2020).

Literature review of theories of depression issues in the young generation

The theories for the mental health issues among the young generation that are mostly depends on the basis of the making of the many reasons that is mostly related to stress and other reason which ultimately gives the reasons that result in depression in the young generation and this depression have a bad impact on the society and another aspect of the growth of the individual and as well as for the nation because youth is the future of the nation. When it comes to the youth there are theories that ultimately result in depression at every stage (Shahsavarani, et al., 2015).

There are many scholars who write a journal about mental health issues that gives direction to the research about the mental issues that are common in the youth generation and these result in the proper directional helps in the research work about making things and these can be in the positive direction as there are the following theories that are given by the writers and researcher:

Freeman, D., Reeve, S., Robinson, A., Ehlers, A., Clark, D., Spanlang, B. and Slater, M., 2017. Virtual reality in the assessment, understanding, and treatment of mental health disorders. Psychological medicine47(14), pp.2393-2400.

Through this article there is the perception of virtual reality that means that in today’s time there are main issues that made in mental health problems in the dramatic world and this will focus on the making of the digitalisation and internet world there is the interaction of the youth with the physical world is zero and this make the youth to not think more than the internet and this has an impact on the mental health as well as physical health which stop the growth of the individual and when they come to the contact of the physical world the problem-solving techniques which they are lacking behind will need in the physical world and they always lack in these skills.

When there was the perception of the internet world applied to the physical world there was the development of the skills that lack in the tackling of problems and this results in the making brains and also there will be learning of the skills that lack and made in such a way that it leads to the depression among the youth generation and there is also the reason which helps in the virtual reality of the internet and this makes more accurate designs of the physical world that helps in the coming up with the real problems of the youth generation (Freeman, et al., 2017).

Hollis, C., Falconer, C.J., Martin, J.L., Whittington, C., Stockton, S., Glazebrook, C. and Davies, E.B., 2017. Annual Research Review: Digital health interventions for children and young people with mental health problems–a systematic and meta‐review. Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry58(4), pp.474-503.

This article focus on the making of digital interventions that impact the mental health of the person and this makes for children and also impact the youth there is the impact of the internet and digitalisation this made the young generation stick to mobile phones and other technological devices which becomes a barrier to the development of the brain and this makes the reason for the making of the experience less for this generation and also there will be habitual of making the use of the technology and this made young generation very skill less for tackling the real world problems and cannot handle the situation in a practical way.

And this is so habitual about the technology that they cannot able to resolve the problems and this made them in the stage of depression also there will be a need the making things in such a way that there will be generated issues and impact the mental health that results in the issues of the depression and other problems and makes a barrier for individual development and other needs of the individual that makes the difference in the performance in the real life and this ultimately leads to the depression and less confidence on the skills and knowledge in them(Hollis, et al., 2017).

Borsboom, D., 2017. A network theory of mental disorders. World psychiatry16(1), pp.5-13.

This network theory has a branch of connections that are made in the individual life of the study and this will make connections that lead to mental health and also with the requirement of making the things that lead an individual to the journey of depression in youth. the connection that leads to the emotional attachment of making the things in such a way that there will be no connections that made them release in such a way that there will be a need of making the things in a positive way and these connections will always suffer the individual and always remain alone with the need of the making the things that support in a negative way and also impact the mental health with the very bad issues that are regarding mental preparedness of the individual for the problem-solving in real life.

A network of connection that is made suitable for the individual is not eligible to communicate with other as their exposure to the physical world remain zero and with this, there is the absence of the grants that made mental barriers for an individual at the time of the exposure and also this leads to failure in making a good network in this world (Borsboom, 2017).

Cole, D.A., Nick, E.A., Zelkowitz, R.L., Roeder, K.M. and Spinelli, T., 2017. Online social support for young people: does it recapitulate in-person social support; can it help?. Computers in human behavior68, pp.456-464.

This article is all about making the theory of the social support that is lacking from the young generation that ultimately leads to the making of the young generation that is lacking the experience in them and also there will be less availability of the thinking that they deserve about the life. As there is a more important part of life is to make things in such a way that there will be a need for support from society but this support is always absent for the young generation as there will be more engagement of the young generation on social media which cause the need of the making the things in such a way that they always think about that only about the social media that it is the only world and they do not need any kind of help which is required for them from the outside world.

But when it comes to the experience in life it is always important to have a proper meaning and this meaning always comes from the real-life problem world also there will be a requirement of the thinking abilities that should be developed by the young generation as it is needed by the individual to solve the problems otherwise this will leads to the depression and anxiety for the young generation (Cole, et al., 2017).

Torous, J., Nicholas, J., Larsen, M.E., Firth, J. and Christensen, H., 2018. Clinical review of user engagement with mental health smartphone apps: evidence, theory and improvements. Evidence-based mental health21(3), pp.116-119.

In this article there is another reason for making the impact of the mental health issues that are made in such a way that there will be no problem solving that is found in the making of the real-life problems that must be tackled in such a way that there is the development of the smartphone apps that are needs of the today’s generation and this generation is also a need of the making the apps with the digital needs of the internet and these apps work accordingly but the problem arises when there is overuse of the apps from the users and this leads to making of the affections towards internet and this will make more habit formation about the applications and this leads to the bad impact on the mental health and other problems that makes a barrier in minds of young generations (Torous, et al., 2018).

Jacob, K.S., 2015. Recovery model of mental illness: A complementary approach to psychiatric care. Indian journal of psychological medicine37(2), pp.117-119.

According to this article that is written as for the recovery model is a part of the research that is made in such a way that there will be research that focuses on the recovery from mental health issues that are made in such a way that there will be need of the making of the proper models needed to develop the things in such a way that there will be a requirement of the making according to this there will be the development of the mental health that made more strong about the making of the mental and also there will be a requirement of the issues that made in the subjects of thinking skills of any individual and also there will be requirement of the thinking skills that is developed for the problem-solving things in the real world (Jacob, 2015).

Research Gap

There may be research that occurred during the research as per the ethics of the research that it must contains the genuine things which have a proper order of the arrangement of the content and facts that includes the needs of the things and this will result in the making of the research more genuine and also more valid for the researcher. But there will be gaps that are occurred in the research for making the things in such a way that there will be many problems that arise in the research about the journal to find the accurate information about the mental health issues that are related to the depression as there are many journals that are outdated and also there is many mismatching information that are related to the young generation.

There is also a research gap that in many journals the information that is found is not so accurate and convincing that it includes with the real life problems and also there is need to develop an emotional attachment of the making of the research more valid that there is inclusion of the all the thought process and ideas that requires a meaning of the life and also the research and when it comes to the mental health issues it is important to address the personal experience which is very important to put in the same situation to better understand the research. There is also need of the making the things in such a way that it includes all the real-life problems that how young generation are affected and also there is seen that the impacts of this depression is on the growth and development of any individual with the negative things (Shahsavarani, et al., 2015).

Conclusion

From the research statement that is taken from the various journals and articles that it may be concluded that the young generation is the one who is facing some of the most mental issues problems. In comparison with the time earlier cases of mental issues are growing among the young generation at a rapid speed. This has motivated many researchers to find out the most common reasons which are causing depression risks in the young generation. The issues which are causing the problem and triggering stress that led to depression have been identified.

An effect on children, youth, and adults, as well as on the internet and digitalization, which has caused the younger generation to become dependent on mobile phones and other technological devices, negatively impacting brain development and decreasing the need for making new experiences for this generation. As there is a more important part of life is to make things in such a way that there will be a need for support from society but this support is always absent for the young generation as there will be more engagement of the young generation on social media which cause the need of the making the things in such a way that they always think about that only about the social media that it is the only world and they do not need any kind of help which is required for them from the outside world. the young generation that ultimately leads to the making of the young generation that is lacking the experience in them and also there will be less availability of the thinking that they deserve about the life
