Part A:
From the provided video “Simulated Construction site video” (access in a separate folder)

In this part of assessment task, you will report orally the present hazards on site and associate risks to the person to whom you identified as the person to whom will you report these risks.

Employees- sir hazard report is prepared and some of the hazards are identified and risks associated with the identified hazard are mentioned in the report.
Supervisor- okay what are the hazards which you have identified?
Employee- sir the first hazard which has been identified is Working from heights and the risk associated with this hazard is when the workers are working from height there is a risk of fatal injuries to the workers.
Supervisor- okay, what is the 2nd hazard which you have identified?
Employee- Slips, trips, and falls are the second hazard, and the risk associated with this hazard is unequal terrain the typography is changing forever, so the trips, slips, and falls are the associated risk. The third potential hazard is Material handling – manual and by equipment and the risk associated with it is the risk of back pain and improper posture.
Supervisor- okay, on-site do you find any hazardous material?
Employee- yes sir, cleaning chemicals were found and they were not kept in the right place. They were kept in an open place so due to it, there is a risk of skin allergy or difficulty in breathing.
Supervisor- okay, that’s good you have identified all the hazards. To reduce the risk of occurring these hazards training will be provided to all the employees and the hazardous material which is kept in the open area will be kept in a safe place.
Employee- okay sir, thank you.
Supervisor- and make sure all the employee wears the PPE when they are working with hazardous materials.

Part C: Contribute to WHS
In above parts of the assessment tasks, you have already Identified hazards and one associated risk with each hazard.
Now, you need to attend a WHS meeting convened by your manager and will contribute your ideas to incorporate in policies and procedures in improve WHS and to minimise the hazards, risks and effective reporting. You will also prepare meeting minutes of the meeting on the (meeting minutes’ template) provide I as separate document.

Part A Demonstration

Apply safe work practices
The student with team members (minimum two) must apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures on three separate and different occasions in the construction industry. The student has been provided the following jobs to accomplish in college workshop. Working under the direct supervision of the trainer assessor, the student will accomplish the following tasks.

Workplace supervisor- today we are gathered here to discuss how to plan, prepare and clean up and store or dispose of the excess and waste material on the job if bricklaying completion.
Team member 1- the waste must be stored in a secure place. Suitable containers must be used. It will stop the waste from the waste escaping.
Workplace supervisor- is there any asbestos-containing material on the work site that is identified?
Team member 2- yes sir, electrical switchboards are identified on the worksite. These materials contain asbestos-containing materials.
Workplace supervisor- okay, whenever working with asbestos-containing material proper care must be done. Make sure to wear PPE when working with the hazardous material. You must wear gloves and shoes when working with the hazardous material.
Team members- okay sir. Is anything else sir that we need to consider?
Workplace supervisor- yes, when your task is completed clean up the space and disposes of the excess and waste material.

Supervisor- today were are gathered here on what preparations we need to do for the wall brick lying. Do you want to tell me something about it?
Team member 1- yes sir, the first thing is to need to do is calculate how many bricks are required, brick will be ordered, the foundation will be prepared, guideposts will be marked, the mortar will be mixed, and the first brick will be laying off, for the next row brick will be cut into half for the next row, to build the brick wall process will be repeated, and at last, the wall will be finished.
Supervisor- yes very nice, do you know what materials are required?
Team member 2- for the brick lying the materials that are required are a trowel, hammer, bolster shovel, bricks, dry bristle brush, clamps, and string and wheelbarrow.
Supervisor- yes, very good. Is there any asbestos-containing material on the work site that is identified?
Team member 1- yes sir, electrical switchboards are identified on the worksite. These materials contain asbestos-containing materials.

Supervisor- yes you can use the sign and use steel barricades. It will let other people know that the wall is constructed newly or if there is any hazard.

Supervisor- yes, when the job is done clean up the areas, all the tools and equipment must be stored as per the recommendations of the manufacturer.

Team members- hello sir, good evening, we are fine thank you.
Supervisor-today I am here to assist in the installation of the window.
Team member 1- okay sir.
Supervisor- do you know what are tools and equipment required for the installation of the window?
Team member 2- yes sir, there is a need for the caulk gun, waterproof shims, tape measure, level, hammer, and driver.
Team member 2- yes sir we need screwdrivers, a putty knife, a small pry bar, and a utility knife for the installation of the window.
Supervisor- okay very nice. While performing the task make sure to ensure your safety. Make sure you have worn PPE. You should use safety glasses and gloves.
Team members- okay sir, what steps we must follow when installing the window?
Supervisor- if there are any old windows first of all remove that window and place it in a safe place. For installing the new window opening must be cleaned, flashing tape must be applied, ensure the level of the sill, the new window must be dry fit, caulk must be applied then, and the window must be placed and secured. When the window is secured check the sashes and make sure your windows are even, if there are any gaps ensure to fill those gaps, height must be measured, the sill adapter must be cut, weep holes must be still, the trim must be installed, the interior will be caulk.

Supervisor- yes there is a need for dry adhesive.

At the college-nominated workshop, one type of environmental emergency which could occur is fire. To deal with this environmental emergency the procedure which will be followed is- 1. I will immediately inform the nearest fire station. 2. To the fire premises, I’ll provide the right address. 3. Initiate the operation of rescue. Take the emergency exit and help other people to go outside in the open area. 4. Main showoffs will be closed (Mohamed, et al., 2019). |
Part B Demonstration
The assessment will be conducted under direct supervision of the trainer/assessor.
Emergency Evacuation and Emergency Situation
You need to access and understood the WHS policy and procedures and carry out as per Emergency Evacuation as WHS policy and procedures.
You assume the role of fire warden in your simulated working place. Your Assessor will establish the simulation and provide organizational procedures for evacuation. You have to demonstrate skills to response to the fire alarm and evacuate a site. Your demonstration be directly observed by trainer/assessor.
You are required to:
- Identify designated personnel in the event of an emergency for communication
- Follow safe workplace procedures for dealing with accidents, fire and other emergencies, (Access WHS policy and procedures from trainer assessor)
- Evacuate a site through simulated response to an emergency, complying with workplace procedures.
- effectively communicate and work safely with others
- comply with a site safety plan, organisational policies for evacuation
- apply general procedures for responding to incidents and reporting hazards and injuries
- Identify effects of stress related to own well-being and use appropriate stress management techniques to get relief from

- identify and carry out Emergency first aid treatment of minor injuries (In collaboration with supervisor role playing trainer /assessor, carry out emergency first aid treatment of minor injuries access the bandage from trainer assessor and apply to another participant under the supervision of the trainer assessor)
