Unit Summary |
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate senior leadership behaviour and personal and professional competence. Business ethics are also addressed in this unit.
The unit applies to individuals who have a role in modelling professionalism in their organisation and industry and inspiring and motivating others to achieve organisational goals. Leadership is seen in the context of the organisational mission.

The Project requires the student to demonstrate evidence of their ability to:

- demonstrate personal and professional competence.
This project requires you to complete the assessment tasks in a workplace or simulated environment where the conditions are typical of those in a working environment in this industry.
Each task comes with a set of instructions. You are to follow and perform these instructions while being observed by the assessor and/or submit any required documentation.
Before starting this assessment, your assessor will discuss with you these tasks, including instructions and guidance for satisfactorily completing them.
ASSESSMENT TASK ONE: Communicate organisational goals and mission
Task Overview
This task requires you to prepare an organisational goals report, according to organisational policies and procedures. This can be prepared and based on either an organisation/workplace of your choice or the simulated business Bounce Fitness.
The organisational goals report you submit for this task must include the following:
- Outline of the business objectives, business values, business standards, strategic direction and relevant operational plans of the organisation
- Confirmation of alignment between strategic direction, business objectives, business values and business standards
- Identification of at least two (2) assigned individuals and two (2) assigned groups for linking organisational objectives, values and standards to their responsibilities
- Links between organisational objectives, values and standards, and the responsibilities of at least two (2) individuals and at least two (2) groups
- Expectations from at least two (2) individuals and at least two (2) groups
- Confirmation that the needs of at least two (2) assigned individuals and at least two (2) groups are met by the media and language used for communicating the organisational mission and goals

ASSESSMENT TASK TWO: Investigate and communicate workplace incidents
Task Overview
This task will require you to investigate and communicate at least two (2) workplace incidents. Workplace incidents can include any two (2) of the following issues:
- Workplace accident
- Workplace injuries or illness
- Environmental event (e.g. emissions, noise )
- Physical security incident (e.g. break-in)
- Cybersecurity incident
- Workplace harassment or bullying
These workplace incidents can be prepared and based on either an organisation/workplace of your choice or the simulated business Bounce Fitness.
To complete this task, you must:
- Investigate at least two (2) workplace incidents by interviewing at least two identified individuals or groups for each incident, according to organisational policies and

- Apply problem-solving processes for at least two workplace incidents to:
- Identify and assess risks
- Identify risk control measures

This task will require you to lead and facilitate outcomes for decisions on work tasks of individuals and teams, improvements in organisational and workplace policies and procedures, and integration of global environment and new technology into work activities.
Assigned individuals are individuals reporting to you, on whose work tasks you would typically lead and facilitate outcomes on.

ASSESSMENT TASK SIX: (OBSERVATION): Adapt to circumstances and situations
This task requires you to be observed by your Assessor whilst you complete the following as you adapt your interpersonal style and leadership style in at least two (2) circumstances and at least two (2) situations.
Circumstance is a fact or condition connected with what is happening or has happened. Situation is the set of circumstances that exist at a particular time and place. A circumstance can be considered as one condition, while a situation is a combination of many conditions.
For example, a new employee in the workplace is a circumstance, whereas the organisation facing intense competition is a situation.
You will be assessed on your practical skills to:
- In at least two circumstances and at least two situations, suitably adapt:
- your interpersonal style
Interpersonal style is the manner in which a person interacts with other people. A person’s interpersonal style is driven by their personality, values, and the environment the person lives and works in. Interpersonal style is also affected by the styles of people you interact with.

Leadership style is the approach a leader takes to make decisions, provide direction, motivate people, and implement plans. It covers all the explicit and implicit behaviour that a leader displays
