Summary

The study of essential themes such as the institution, administration, politics, liberty, and injustice, but also the application of a judicial framework by an authority with the means to do so, is referred to as political philosophy. It is defined as “ a group of humans in ethical theories, and it addresses topics like how civilization should be built and how humans would act within that community. The right to freedom, liberty, and property, as well as the American dream, freedom of expression, and the capacity for self, are concrete declarations of what it takes for a person to flourish rather than feel the wrath of society.

What constitutes a government, why governments are necessary, what constitutes a legal government, what rights and liberties must a government defend, what obligations citizens have to a legal government, and when can a legitimate government be overthrown in a legal manner are all topics covered in political philosophy.

The primary question in political thought is how to utilize or constrain government powers in order to ensure human survival and improve everyone’s quality of life. Political ideology, like the atmosphere and the breadth and boundaries of the mind, is impacted by time and location. As with other areas of human existence, subsequent political intellectuals’ approaches to reoccurring difficulties enhance the experience and preconceptions of their respective times (Zhou, & Yang, 2018).

Political philosophy, on the other hand, appears to be more speculative and ethical than experimental. It is closely linked to general philosophy, as well as intercultural communication, sociology, and understanding sociology, among other fields. Despite the fact that every practical political theory is inextricably linked to past occurrences, the examination of ethics is interested in what has been or how that would be done, rather than a presentation of what transpired. As a result, he or she is more preoccupied with what the primary objectives of the entire democratic establishment should have been in light of a certain personal philosophy rather than with how interest groups function or how decisions must be made via various voting systems.

Reflection

Minority Report (2002 science fiction film) explores several points of view, based on Philip K. Dick’s 1956 children’s book of the same term. The picture is a mix of suspense, mystery, and science fiction (Budzowska, 2020).

The film’s narrative revolves around a trio of psychics termed as “precogs,” who see future vision known as “previsions” of crimes yet to be undertaken. Precrime, is a criminal investigation agency that employs precogs to stop crime predicated on their capacity to see beforehand and, examine these images.

The plot of the picture, according to Spielberg, is half about the characters and half about aighly complex storytelling with layers upon levels of mystery novel and narrative subplots. The fundamental topic of the film is the conflict between free will and inevitability. It investigates whether free will is possible in the face of a predetermined and predictable future. It also highlights the need for preventative governance in ensuring public safety.

According to Spielberg, the film’s depiction of criminals being apprehended before conducting their crimes has to have a real-world basis in post-9/11 America, implying that we are sacrificing some of our rights for the protection of government officials. . The innovative world of Minority Report’s person authentication, robotic police policymakers, and obtrusive, personalized public advertising premiered in theatres across the United States while the country was debating the appropriate level of government intervention into personal concerns in order to safeguard the safety of its residents. If a PreCrime system were to become a reality, Spielberg has stated that he would vehemently oppose it because he feels that those in power would definitely misuse their power (Jordan, et al., 2018).

Furthermore, after listening to others at the “think tank gathering” that “the right to privacy is a diminishing commodity” that will eventually be “thrown out the window,” Spielberg saw a future society governed by invasive capitalism and government monitoring. As shown in the film, Minority Report both visualises and depicts a future in which the consciousness is completely occupied.
