Expression Assignment

  1. What is your understanding of Expression and how children might demonstrate it –Fostering Communication and Expression in all Forms?

Answer

As per my understanding of expression, it is the way how a child expresses their thoughts, knowledge, feeling, and ideas. Children develop more complex capacities through the use of words, material, and their bodies. It is very important to understand that expression and communication are 2-way streets. It entails being heard and herring both ways. Problem-solving and fostering the creativity of children’s exploration of the material is very helpful. The settings of language-rich are helpful in the development of the “communication skills” for literacy it serves as the basis. For educators a solid understanding of child development is crucial. It helps them to apply the approaches like pedagogical.

There can be a different form of expression. It can be through the bodies, materials use, use of words, for the increasingly complex communication capacities of children, are developing. There are various opportunities identified for exploring the materials that support creativity, mathematical behaviors, and problem-solving. Growing communication is supported through the language-rich environment, which is foundational for literacy. Through creative expression, communication can be done.

Children many times demonstrate the expression by manipulating the materials, making movements and exploring the music, creating symbols, and when they are engaged in imaginative expression (Fraser, 2012).

  1. List and describe at least 5 ways in which programs and as an ECE Student you can help foster Communication and Expression in all forms?

Answer

Some of how programs and we can help to “foster communication” and expression in all the forms are-

1) Children’s connection can be engaged and cultivated with the stories and the books in the various kind of contexts. For example- with the small and large groups, or individuals sharing the thought, telling stories, and sharing the books.

2) Weaving language & literacy-related activities & materials into all daily experiences, physical space, and routines.

3) Working with the communities, family members for finding the different ways to enrich and support the language transmission and culture as well.

4) By being known to many “languages”. The languages are used by the children for communicating and for providing individual support so that it can be helpful for them to express themselves and easily to be heard and understood.

5) Continuously reflecting on and seeking to develop their strategies for communication and the techniques for facilitating the responsive, authentic conversation with the families and child ernes (E Patonwas, 2017).

Play and Learning Experience

Expression

  1. Plan a Play Experience(Provocation/Invitation) that would promote Expression

Answer

To promote the expression a play experience is planned. The “play experiences” which have been plannedare art and craft. It is a very good method to promote expressions. This form of play helps in encouraging self-expression. When the opportunities are provided to the children to express themselves with the help of creativity it helps them in learning and it also helps them in developing critical thinking. Art and craft is the play experience that children enjoy the most. There are various examples of creative activities which can be used for promoting expressions- writing, crafting, painting, making music, coloring, and playing games. Creative expressions are beneficial for the children as it helps the children in expressing their thoughts and emotions easily.

Visual communication is used by the children’s and about their surroundings they think critically. During the art and craft play, experience children can know about many things and young toddlers can know about the various shapes, colors, and noises. They start to comprehend the consequences and cause concept. Children who love to dance can gain physical activity and it will also help them to balance and coordinate (E Patonwas, 2017).

  1. Where will you set up this Play Experience and Why?

Answer

I would like to set the “play experience” of art and craft in the art and drawing-room. In the room, different paintings can be placed where children would take more interest. Different things can be placed in that room so that children can learn new things. For example, a tree can be placed in the art and drawing-room. It will help to teach the children about nature’s beauty. Making the word happy, healthy, and colorful can be a good lesson for them. they can be taught to plan the trees and they will also know the importance of the tree in their lives (Fraser, 2012).

  1. How will you set up the Play Experience and what materials will you need?

Answer

A “play experience” can be set up for the children a color place to do art and craft. By providing a comfortable and colorful place to sit. Providing them colors, crayons, watercolors, and drawing sheets. They can also have taught to do the art with a variety of materials like old papers, boxes, cardboards, etc. they can also have taught to create the collage with the help of colorful paper scrap, photos of the magazines, dried noodles, pencil waste, with the help of cotton and yarn. With the help of glue and safety scissors, youngsters can be allowed to cut and reshape the items and provide them complete new look. Various items can be used for art and craftwork. The items like fabric swatches, paper tableware, and toilet paper rolls (Shanker, 2013).

There is various material that will be required for doing art and craft are-

  • Scissors
  • Crafting paper
  • Watercolors
  • Crayons and pencil concourse
  • Old newspapers or colored papers.
  • Cotton balls (Dahlberg et al., 2007).

  1. Select 2 key developmental domains and identify the Root Skills that the children may demonstrate.

Answer

2 key “development domains” which have been selected are-

1) Social- it involves the skills like after being ridiculous bouncing back or to listen the story sitting quietly. They have the capacity for regulating one’s impulses and emotions which is needed for learning and growth. Gender roles are being acquired by the children’s and when they learn to cooperate they startunder standing things (Shanker, 2013).

2) Cognitive- the ability to analyze the environment around them gains when the children get older. Their ability is gained in increasingly complex ways. When the items are examined by the children then they start to arrange the items and into different categories, they start to categorize them, which is referred to by them as the schemes. As the answers are sked by the children about their question then they start taking more interest in their learning process. Through listening to others attentively and observing them they start learning things. They are unable to demonstrate that they are aware of their past and the present as well. Based on size and shapes, they start to categorize the items. Via exploration, they start learning things. They start understanding and start responding to the phrases and words. Most of the time children spend observing how adjusts behave (Dahlberg et al., 2007).
