Types of Political Activity at Work

Topic Overview

The main description of this particular topic is related to office politics in the workplace. It is very normal to see the following topics in the daily life of any organization. There are a lot of employees who do ties there best to make their personal alliances with the people in senior positions in the organisation. People also consider a lot of well-wishing to the people who are working in the higher posts in the organisation. These things are really common in daily life in the fields of organizations. The chosen topic gives the perfect scenarios of an organization focusing on the people who seek the presence of the higher management and also pursue them for giving a greeting and another important factor to pursue their attention in their working areas of fields. The intensity of this work concludes with favourable decisions which consist of promotions, incentives and increments of their favourite people in the organization (Beger & Beger, 2018).

Based on the topic it is really clear to understand the motives of people based on their personal reasons and agendas behind this kind of office politics. The main reasons for office politics can be understood by the eye of one are,

– Changing technology and environment.

– Limited resources.

– Ambiguous goals.

– organizational change.

– Nonprogrammed decision.

– getting rewards.

– attaining a higher position in the organization.

– producing structures of the termination for getting their position and rewards.

These are some of the reasons which needed to be addressed from the eyes of people who pursue office politics. These are the reasons which are the main motive of the people so they could analyse and understand the reasons for the work. Office politics may include a lot of bad terms and priorities which could harm the environment of the organization (Bright & Clutterbuck, 2023).

Real-life based example

Taking an example which is faced by myself based on organizational politics. I worked in an organization to understand the work and earn some money. I went into the office and the HR was really strict with me for the reasons of maintaining the dignity of work in the organization. But for some employees the HR was different and he was really good at talking and also was having fun with them. Those employees were friends of HR. I notice one day that two employees were late for work one who is a friend of HR and the other who is a normal employee HR proceeded with giving a warning to the other employee who was not a friend of HR and didn’t say anything or did anything official towards their friend.

Another example is seen as the employee who is a friend of HR didn’t maintain good work and also often comes late to the office for work. But they were not even looked after and were not even asked questions about the work as to how they were not doing good for the organization and working according to the set of rules in the organization. These were some of the incidents which were further seen or used for the working conditions of the politics in the office. These were the signs of office politics which were clearly visible in the organizations. Some people were not even asked questions about the things they are doing and this concludes to partialities towards other employees (Ganguly, et al., 2022).

Recommendations

There are 2 main recommendations which fit in the examples and also will give reduce office politics.

The first recommendation includes regular check-ups of the higher bodies which come under the director of the company. These check-ups were directly made by the Director so they could find and analyse the incapability and the politics which are going on inside the office. There is no perfect organization but people try to make it perfect and this is how thing goes on. Things will be different if the director himself will check the uncertain activities which are done behind their back are been captured. They could possibly judge and understand the working conditions between the higher management and the employees based on the selective organization politics for bringing their favourites into promotions and other factors related to the organization (Mangula, et al., 2021).

The second recommendation includes the feedback which could be tormentedly generated by the other people so they could definitely judge according to the needs and demands of the work. This feedback should directly report to the Director or the CEO. So, employees can openly contribute towards their personal opinions which are ongoing in the environment and how these things will further conclude towards the working. This could be the best possible recommendation which will make the company grow and attain the positive working conditions which are demanded the organization to reduce the politics which are ongoing in the organization.
